well, as the subject states, the rear pto won't shut off, its definatly not electrical from what ive sourced. Ive traced it so far to the (im assuming) PTO valve body on the right side of the transmission, it recives a line from a pump on the engine, and has a solenoid on it also. When i pull the PTO switch, the solenoid engergizes fine, but i hear no clicking in the valve body, something pluged? help?

I'd like to help but I only know mechanical pto's and gear TX's. When I hear hydraulics and pto's I think of the infernal pto brakes and fortunately I don't have one. I don't think of hydraulic cylinders as making any noise when they actuate except for some fluid noise though. Somebody here probably knows about this drive.

You might say whether the pto has power to it all the time or if it's just free-wheeling. ....

the rear pto is always running. Im pretty sure that this solenoid on the valvebody controls the pto engagement, i pulled the coil off and it energizes and de-energizes with the switch fine. ....

I just moved and my Deere shop manual CD is still packed up somewhere in the pile of boxes but it sounds like either a bad pto switch or pto solenoid as alreadh mentioned. A long shot here..... try turning BOTH pto switches off and disconnecting the battery for a few minutes. Then try it again. ....

milkcap the thread is almost 2 years old and I do not recall the original posters being online for a very long time. However they may have changed their logons or someone else knows the answer.

I would guess JD has the answer in their service bulletins. Ask and they will steer you correctly. ....

Hi, yes im still here! The problem I discovered was a stuck spool. It is located right behind the solenoid that "turns on" the PTO. I just gave it a tap and it started movin again. No problems since. Hope this helps ! ....
